The ICE 44-50 vibratory hydraulic hammer and the new 575 powerpack was sold recently to PAY AH HENG PTE LTD for the Deep Tunnel Sewerage System Project (DTSS) - the Seletar Link Sewer Contract 1 along Yio Chu Kang Road.
The hammer will be driving in 12m length FSP IVA sheetpiles prior to the excavation works for the tunnel shaft. Laying of sewerage pipes by the pipe jacking machine will then be done within this shaft.
The Deep Tunnel Sewerage System will replace the current 6 water reclamation plants and 134 pumping stations. About 80 km of the tunnels with diameters of up to 6.5 m will be built. Another 170 km of smaller link-sewers will also be built as part of the DTSS. The deep tunnels and link-sewers will convey sewage from the existing network of sewers to two new centralised water reclamation plants to be built on reclaimed land in Changi and Tuas. The treated effluent from the new treatment plants will be discharged through deep sea outfalls into the Straits Of Singapore. The entire project is expected to complete in Year 2015.
