New Casagrande B250 Exceeding All Expectations at Changi Water Reclamation Plant Project (CWRP)

The Casagrande B250 is designed to work in the most difficult sites and is particularly suited for laying foundation work on large-scale projects like the CWRP. The bored pile depth and size that are required in this project are 60m and 2200mm diameter. The Casagrande B250 is working well and is very productive at the site.

A powerful diesel engine and a newly designed hydraulic system ensure maximum efficiency, optimum performance, speed and low fuel consumption. The machine is fully self-erecting and can be set up quickly on site without the aid of auxiliary cranes.

Casagrande’s new series of hydraulic piling rigs is designed and built using the latest state-of-the-art techniques. A range of machines engineered to satisfy the needs of the most demanding project with particular emphasis being put on performance, reliability and economy.

The B250 is a very versatile machine. It is used :

  • To drill boreholes and to insert and extract casings

  • To power casing oscillators

  • For piling by the continuous flight auger method.

The new operator’s cabin is designed according to modern ergonomic practice. It has a wide field of vision and is sound proofed to less than 80 dB. The B250 is designed to satisfy the stringent European Union standards on safety and is manufactured to comply with the ISO 9001 requirements on quality.

The Changi Water Reclamation Plant is being built to clean used water and therefore adds to the effort of preserving the environment. Located on the Eastern edge of the island on reclaimed land, it will free up land in central Singapore now occupied by other reclamation plants and pumping stations. The CWRP will obtain most of its water from reuse of treated water. In addition, it will recover energy from biogas generated during the process. The ultimate treatment capacity will be 2,400,000 m3/day and the entire plant will occupy a mere 54 hectares of land, with most of its facilities found underground.
