ICE Far East supplied the ICE Hydraulic Vibratory Hammer 44-50 for sheetpile installation for the Kallang Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) project. The sheetpiles and H-beams were driven to a depth of 36m.
The highway, which will cost about S$1.8 billion, incorporates the longest 9 km road tunnel in South-east Asia and is the last leg of Singapore's 20 year expressway masterplan.
A 2 km stretch of the tunnel will run directly under and parallel to Pelton Canal, near the junction of Paya Lebar Road and the Pan-Island Expressway.
It will cut across the Geylang River and also across built up residential and industrial areas in Geylang, Paya Lebar and Airport Road.
When ready, motorists living in the north east corridor, in areas like Sengkang and Punggol will enjoy shorter travelling times to the city.
