ICE Far East supplied the Casagrande P550 high pressure pump for jet grouting operations at the Kallang Paya Lebar Expressway project. The purpose of jet grouting is to improve the soil along the expressway as it cuts across areas with marine clay.
The highway, which will cost about $1.8 billion, incorporates the longest 9 km road tunnel in South-east Asia and is the last leg of Singapore's 20 year expressway masterplan.
A 2 km stretch of the tunnel will run directly under and parallel to Pelton Canal, near the junction of Paya Lebar Road and the Pan-Island Expressway.
It will cut across the Geylang River and also across built up residential and industrial areas in Geylang, Paya Lebar and Airport Road.
When ready, motorists living in the north east corridor, in areas like Sengkang and Punggol will enjoy shorter travelling times to the city.
The P550 high pressure pump can be operated with a power of 316 kW at 1800 rpm and a maximum torque of 1815 Nm at 1200 rpm. It can be fitted with a piston size of 100 mm diameter. It's cabin is sound proof reducing the effect of noise pollution at the job site.
Another high pressure pump of higher capacity would be the P700 model, with a 403 kW at 2100 rpm power and a maximum torque of 1915 Nm at 1200 rpm. The P700 can be fitted with a piston size of 100 mm.
